Dear Friends and Neighbours
Since last fall, 3 of us have been working diligently, to prepare for the upcoming Ontario Land Tribunal case, which begins Oct 16th, 2024. This is in regard to the proposed plan of Dorchester Property Holdings (Angelo Butera), to build a 5 storey, 74 unit apartment building, encroaching on our well established neighbourhood.
Along with the unanimous support of City Council last July, both Wayne Gates (MPP) and Kim Craitor (Regional Councillor) endorsed a letter on our behalf, which they directed to the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. This letter supported our concerns, plus those of City Council.
To date, the expenses for our lawyer, David Neligan and our planner, Allan Ramsay, have exceeded donations from neighbours. We plan to hold a Trivia Night fundraiser Friday July 12th (doors open at 6:00pm and Trivia starts at 7:00pm) at the Royal Canadian Legion on Spring Street, to help with costs incurred. Please see the attached flyer for details. Please mark your calendars and spread the word for Purse Bingo, which will also be held at the Legion on September 27th, 2024, as another fundraiser.
We encourage you to spread the word to friends family and neighbours! Please join us in full force, like you did at City Hall, to support this event. Here is an opportunity to have a fun evening, by reserving a table of 8 (friends, family and/or neighbours). There will also be room for individuals who cannot round up a table of 8. Everyone is welcome to join!
